| Description = I am briefly stopped at the Alberta-British Columbia provincial boundary, as attested by the British Columbia welcome sign in the background. This is also the boundary between Banff National Park on the Alberta side and Yoho National Park on the British Columbia side, not to mention the Continental Divide, and the highest point on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The construction cones are seen around here because the stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway between this point and Lake Louise (5 kilometers to the east) is being "twinned" - widened to 4-lane divided highway. When that work is complete, the entire Alberta stretch of the Trans-Canada will be a multi-lane divided highway. While British Columbia has similar plans, actual progress is much slower to be almost glacial, and the Trans-Canada through British Columbia is hopelessly overburdened, as I would find out while proceeding to Vancouver.

The weather here is outright dreadful - drizzle, gusty winds, very dark clouds, and daytime high temperature struggling to hit 12-13 degrees Celsius. And this is midsummer! Just downhill to the east though, Banff, 60 kilometers away, is partly sunny and at a balmy 26 degrees. Once I resume my drive west, clear Yoho and Glacier National Parks, and proceed to Kamloops and on to Vancouver, things would become a lot more pleasant.
