For my car, since being shipped to Los Angeles straight from its South Korean assembly line, this is its first foray outside the US, and for me, it's the first time since 2001, and second time ever, that any of my automobiles has brought me outside the US. (Although I took the European Delivery option on a Mercedes-Benz in 2009, I don't count it as the journey started at the factory in Germany, rather than at home in the US.) Entering Canada turned out to be quite troublesome, as my entry date was the day after a gun massacre in Colorado (and previous months saw several Canadian gun murders carried out by guns smuggled in from the US) and my car had to be thoroughly searched to ensure I had no weapons or other contraband on me. (Just about every American driving into Canada that day was searched and re-interrogated at the border, adding to a 3-hour delay.)

On this journey I am going as far as Jasper, about 120 miles north of this point, which is 1,750 miles from my home in Southern California. This is the farthest I have ever traveled in my own car.
