I think it needs a wide input (hence translations occurred to me) and ideally some indication that the foundation approves of the proposal (even if they leave it up to us to agree to it). Even better would be an indication from some of them that they do desire this change. That might put some of those who think they are God's gift to photography in their place :-) The last time this came up on Commons, I asked Erik Möller some questions. I copied his response as a quote in [[User:Colin/AppropriatelyLicensed/FAQ]]. I've created the FAQ as a place to dump responses to all the objections we've had at the Commons and WP FPs.
