::::That's a good question. When I first went on to Wikinews to do just that (2006, I think) they said they wouldn't unless I became very involved in the project, and they were unreceptive to the idea of a "photojournalist" who wasn't a focused content contributor. I think (hope) they've grown since then, but it's possible that they haven't. I feel that the WMF ought to--via Wikinews or some other way--create a photography accreditation. They used to be lukewarm about that idea, but when I was at Wikimania last summer I brought it up with some WMF folks and they liked it. I wish I had time to get that ball rolling. Try Wikinews - maybe write [https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/User:Brian_McNeil Brian McNeil] a note before making any requests on-site.

::::If that doesn't happen, I would make the effort yourself. The best way I found is to create a Wikipedia User page with your real name and make it look as professional as possible. Use it to highlight your work and the breadth of your experience. When you contact venues or people, tell them that you photograph for Wikipedia and send them the link. Use Wikipedia b/c nobody knows what Commons is, so you'll have more doors open if you use the Wikipedia name, which I came to see as just a way to describe the umbrella of WMF websites that might make use of the work. Trying to explain how they all work together confuses people. The idea of all of that is to make the gatekeeper feel comfortable with you, that you are the real deal, they know what you're doing (and for whom) and that when you are standing in front of a particular celebrity and they are posing for you, that you're not going to pie them (or worse). Poke around with contacting people/venues or whatever and don't be shy. Hope that helps. --[[User:David Shankbone|David Shankbone]] ([[User talk:David Shankbone#top|talk]]) 04:52, 30 January 2013 (UTC)

I noticed that [[:File:Fred Durst at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.JPG]] is unlicenced. Would you like to add a copyright tag to the image? It is being used quite a bit so I am sure you will want it to be kept. Thanks. [[User:Ww2censor|Ww2censor]] ([[User talk:Ww2censor|talk]]) 22:49, 1 April 2013 (UTC)
