:Hi!
+
:Of course you are right, this original photographs weren't taken by myself :) I work in Astronomical Observatory of Poznan University and for a long time I'm interested in history of our institute. Photographs were find in our archive, but after more than half of a century I'm not able to determine who was their author. Writing "my own work" I meant, that I've simply scanned them from a paper print. This photos were not published anywhere and anytime, and were a part of private collection. Furthermore, as far as I know such old photographs are not protected by copyright law. Anyway, thanks for your alertness! ::Hi Bori64,
+
::as you may (not) know, the creator of a work (painting, photography, etc.) earns the copyright automatically. By scanning or reproducing a 2-dimensional original, you do not become the author and you do not earn any own copyright. In order to evaluate the copyright status of these reproductions, you need to provide more information and you need to correct the description entries.
+
::1) source: ((own)) is wrong for all reproductions of older originals. You need to replace that by the true source; for example: ''photo print in ... archive''.
+
::2) author: see above. You need to research for the name of the photographer or photo studio (captions, watermark, backside of photo prints?). If you find nothing, you need to write ''unknown''.
+
::3) date: this is for the date (year), when the original photo had been shot. You may also add any information about the first known publication of the photo.
+
::4) license: you cannot self-license reproductions of works of others. Some of the photos may be PD-old, depending on the death-year of the photographer and the copyright law of the country of origin.
