Family History and Early Life:
Zafar Nomani was born in India. His father Khan Saheb Mumtaz Ahmad Nomani was native of Azmagarh, India, and Mother Zubaida Khatoon Nomani came from Hinganghat, District Wardha, India.
Education:
M. Z. A. Nomani had his early education - pre-school at Hinganghat, India , Municipal Urdu School Elementaty at Arvi and Warfha(1939-42). During his middle school studies at Maulana Azad High School and Junior College (1944-47) he had a visionary teacher and nationalist freedom fighter Mr. M.A. Baig.
Social and economic impacts of World War II, India's world famous classic famine (1942-43) and freedom movement during forties and Wardha's environment, had an impact informal education to Dr. Nomani, and reinforced his belief in service to humanity (ref. 2 belief net, asra , .
Zafar had his high school education at Government Chaderghat College, Hyderabad, India and undergraduate at Omania University, Hyderbad 1950-55. He received his Ph. D. degree with major in Nutrition from Rutegers University, U.S.A., 1973
Professional:
The first professional career Mr. Nomani took was as a research scientist at Agricultural Experiment Station, Rudrur, District Nizambad, A.P, in 1955 and work for two years. He was a faculty member at Osmania/A.P. Agricultural University Ref. Krishi...), Hyderbad from 1957-67 (ref. ). He spent 1962-63 at Kansas State University under U.S.-A.I.D-India teacher's exchange program ( ref. red book)
Dr.Nomani was a teaching and research faculty at West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV, U.S.A from 1975, ubtil 2002. He taught undergraduate and graduate course, in nutrition. His area of research is cholesterol and protein metabolism in relation to energy intake ( ref. ref ), Ramadan fasting ref ramada reseaech, WPost ..., international nutrition ( ref....)., child nutrition ( re.f ...)
Honors and Awards:
In recognition of his professional contributions in nutrition research, Dr. Nomani has been honored as Professor Emeritus of Human Nutrition, at West Virginia University. He is a Fellow of International College of Nutrition. Dr. Nomani's significant findings on Ramadan fasting research, he was awarded Internationa King Hassan II of Morocco Award for the findings on Ramadan fasting research (ref..proceedings and link..)
