Dr Bruton’s passion for art and photography started with a Kodak Box Brownie as a child and developed with a study of traditional photographic media at art school in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 1984 he experimented by using computer software to augment photographic imagery. His teaching background includes topics such as: Digital Imaging, Web Design, 3D Installation Art, Multimedia, 3D digital visualisation and fabrication. Dean Bruton was born 24 December 1951 in Semaphore, a seaside suburb of Adelaide, South Australia and grew up in Clearview, South Australia. He was educated at the University of SA, Flinders University of SA and The University of Adelaide. In 1974, his career began in secondary teaching and in 1989 developed into higher education in the visual arts and design. At Flinders University of SA he studied theories of art education, visual art and art curatorial practice resulting in a Masters of Arts (Hum) with supervisor Professor Donald Brook in 1986. In 1991 he began a PhD with Professor Antony Radford which led to a long productive relationship in tertiary teaching and scholarship.
