Claudio Cecchi's CV
New pageClaudio Cecchi is full Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Rome La Sapienza. His research fields in recent years concern the contribution of Political Economy to the building of the Sustainability Science, and Social and Spatial theory (notably the development of local systems theory within social and economic contexts). Previously he has researched on governance (with particular reference to land use planning) and rural community development (with particular reference to class relationships).
Dr. Cecchi is among the founders of the “International Society for the Sustainability Science (ISSS)”, and he is convener of the Working Group on Sustainable Development, Vulnerability and Resilience of the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI).
Within Sapienza University, Dr Cecchi is faculty member of the Department of Economics and Law; member of the Scientific Board of the Inter-university Research Centre on Sustainable Development – CIRPS; member of the Research Centre on European, International and Development Studies (EuroSapienza). He has been the Director of the Research Centre on Development Studies (SPES) (2005-2011); the Director of the BA in “Urban and Environmental Planning and management”; and the Director of the Master in “Non-farm Activities and Dural Development in Developing Countries”. His teaching activity at La Sapienza includes: Sustainable Development, Economics of Tourism and Rural Development.
Dr Cecchi has directed several research units in national and international research programmes funded by the European Union and several Italian research institutions. He has widely published in Italian and international books and journals.
