|Description=A Supermarine 508 experimental fighter (serial VX129) landing on the aircraft carrier HMS ''Eagle'' (R05) during flying trials in the English Channel in May 1952. The Supermarine 508 was an undercarriaged version of the Supermarine 505 twin engined carrier research aircraft which itself was evolved from the straight winged Supermarine ''Attacker''. The 505 was used to explore the idea of undercarriageless aircraft and flexible deck landings. Note the distinctive flat underside and 'V' tail.
