One of its best known attractions is Madurodam, about a kilometer from the train station. Madurodam is a collection of miniatures, depicting various landmarks throughout the Netherlands, collected into a fictional all-Dutch city. Many of the elements - be they people on parades (as seen here), cars on motorways, or even a Korean Air 747 visiting the town's airport - actually move.

A miserable, rainy, windy day for sure, but Madurodam turned out be a nice diversion from the thugs of Amsterdam. Other sights around town, including Museon and Vreispalace as well as a tram ride out to Schveningen Beach, kept things interesting.
