User:BEDownes claims to be the heir of the works of Jerome and Ethel Myers. He's expressed his wish to make the work available entirely for free, but it seems like he needs to be informed that work after 1923 is not PD, and of how to make sure permission is given. I'd like to handle this as well as possible because I think these are valuable additions to Commons. What does the uploader have to do with regards to OTRS to make sure these images are shared? Do they need their lawyer to sign off on it? How can they prove that they own the artworks? Thanks, moogsi (blah) 13:36, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

:If User:BEDownes is a heir of Jerome and Ethel Myers and inherited their copyrights, than he/she can use PD-heir or (s)he can also sent email to OTRS, with text here and (s)he can choose any license (s)he wants, preferably PD-heir. I do not think (s)he needs a layer to sign anything, but it might make sense for him/her to verify with the layer that he/she is the "sole owner of the exclusive copyright" and if he/she have some documents to that effect they can be sent over as well. --Jarekt (talk) 15:33, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

I uploaded a crisper version of this image from the Walters Art Museum website, but I used the same template from :File:Józef Brandt - On Reconnaissance - Walters 372569.jpg that has an OTRS tag. Can someone please read ticket #2012021710000834 and confirm that I can use this tag for the new image? The template seems to have this OTRS ticket integrated into it, unless I'm missing something. FYI, the old JPG was derived from a PNG file, also available on Commons. My upload is the sharper JPG available at the same website. Thank you! – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 07:13, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
