I have a file from a US patent (http://davidbuckley.net/DB/HistoryMakers/1868DederickSteamMan_files/patents.png) produced 145 years ago. According to united states copyright law, copyrights expire "70 years after the author's death" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_copyright_law). I am unaware either of when the author died, or if the patent would belong to the author (Zadoc P. Dederick) or the US government. The image upload wizard says to wait 150 years. Can I upload this image now? --[[User:HighFlyingFish|HighFlyingFish]] ([[User talk:HighFlyingFish|talk]]) 00:27, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
