** Well it's a 1930 photo, in not great quality (so suggesting it's not a recent scan from the negative/print); publication before 1989 is a reasonable assumption. Possibly a bigger issue with PD-1996 here is the need to assume that Denmark is the source country. If it isn't, then the work may still be in copyright in the source country.
