The caption claims he is wearing the insignia of an SS-Brigadefuhrer; this is an error stemming from the fact that in the later, post-April 1942 SS generals' insignia a collar tab with three oakleaves and no pips became that of a Brigadefuhrer. But in 1940, three oakleaves and no pips was the insignia of an SS-Gruppenfuhrer, which was Heydrich's rank at the time (under the system then in effect, a Brigadefuhrer woure two oakleaves and a pip).
